should be a round canister on passenger side rear of transmission maybe threaded /held in with retainer clip @2inches long x 1 1/2 inches long with a nipple on the end. there should be a vacuum line from that to a hard line that should run along side the transmission to the back of the motor where another vacuum line will connect it to a vacuum tree on the intake. the color of the canister may vary by application.
[/IMG] mine is a gold color but i have seen them in silver as well, although if it is dirty you might not be able to determine color without wiping it off. if the vacuum lines are connected, you can pull the vacuum line off of the modulator and check for fluid. if fluid is present in the vacuum line your modulator is garbage and needs to be replaced. if you have to replace the modulator, they come preset but there is an adjustment for firmness of shift. to adjust remove vacuum line and using a very small standard screwdriver turn the adjustment screw an 1/8th of a turn [clockwise for firmer, counterclockwise for softer] at a time until desired firmness is achieved. don't go any more than an 1/8th of a turn at a time or you will get too much firmness, if you don't feel comfortable adjusting yourself a tranny shop can do it for you, it will be drivable on the base adjustment. please note that the picture i posted is of a mid 70's C6, but i do believe that locations are the same. atleast as far as any tranny i have messed with whether it be chevy, ford.
