Hi new to the site hope you can help, last time i drove my truck (97 3.0 ranger man. tran) when you would put your foot on the clutch the truck would rev right up but the truck seemed to still work fine but when i shut it off it would not start again! When you turn the key on you can hear the pump run and i replaced the fuel filter and the pump is working. there is pressure at the fuel rail when i press the little valve but the truck is still not getting the fuel. if i take the air breather off and squirt some fuel down the intake it will start right up and i can keep it running this way until i stop feeding the fuel to her but will not run on its own any ideas thanks

ok i got a test light and i got power on one side(the red wire) of the injector plug at all times when the key is on. crank the motor over and there is no difference on either wire am i doing this right how do you know if the injector is getting signal??? this has to be the problemas i got fuel and pressure to the rail.

and one more thing i did not mention is the check engine light does not work in my truck but when you first start the truck or turn on the key the coumpter admits a series of 5 beeps five times every time you start the truck and sometimes even when you are just driving along it has been doing this for awhile now but would it have anything to do with this problem or has anyone heard of this before???? thanks

:buttkick: Im stumped too so i found this from "shadetree" Thanks BTW

"In checking the injectors with the engine off, key on, you should have battery voltage on both injector wires. If you are using an analog voltmeter, with the positive probe on the tan wire, you will see the needle fluctuate slightly as it fires when cranking the engine.

Using a standard test light on the tan wire, you will see the light dim slightly as the injector pulses if is is working correctly. You will not see a "flash" with an incandescent bulb. shady"

If you dont figure it out, come down to the shop and ill give you a pressure tester to plug in where your filter goes. And no more homemade tools to disconnect!

From what i can read, for a 2.9l anyways, since i cant find anything on a 3.0its 30 some odd psi. If the PSI is not correct, the injectors will not fire off i dont belive.

anyone have any ideas? Fuel in the rail but no injectors working? Spray fuel into the intake and it will run! Is there a relay that powers the injectors? Any help is great.

The truck's computer controls the firing of the injectors. No relay. Do you have a check engine light? Possible a bad connection from the injector harness to the computer. Do a shake test. Wiggle the wiring, especially the connectors, and inspect the connectors for corrosion.:)shady

what kind of psi reading should i be getting from the pump??or what psi do the injectors need to fire?? thanks

up till now i have done a wiggle test on evey wire had every plug apart i have now done a fuel pressure test and it's running around 40 psi so thats where it should be. So i guess it is probably the coumpter??? what do you guys think any suggestions??

I would check continuity of the wiring from the injectors to the computer before condemning anything. Unfortunately, I do not have a pin number or wire color. Perhaps someone can help with this.:)shady

alright i went out to my local scrap yard and got another coumpter just to take home a give it a try see if it fixed all my problems but it did not do a dam thing for me!! (so it will be going back !!)anyway i went back to what the truck was doing first place.witch was running a high idle(before it would not start at all) everything traced back to the throttle postioning sensor. so i went back to the scrap yard and got a tps. off an old astro van took it home put it on the truck and it fixed all my problems all for ten bucks thanks for anyone that gave any input to help me solve my problem great web site for the guy that likes to do it himself!! thanks again:headbang:
