That's very typical of people around where I live. They'll go buy a new car, they won't trade in their old car they would rather park it in their yard and let it rot than to get rid of it. But they'll sure try and get other people to sell a vehicle they recently parked due to needing a bit of work, but they also want the vehicle for nothing as well. Not 2 days after I got my Bronco 2 home after purchase my neighbor stops in and asks me if I want to sell it, well I'm thinking sure for the right price, but this guy is one of those types that wants stuff given to him, so I said no its not for sale. A week later he stops in again as my B2 was still sitting where I unloaded it waiting on head gaskets to show up and the title so I could get it on the road. He stops in and says I'll give you $400 for it, I say for which part, he just looks at me crazy, I said you do realize this truck actually runs and drives he's like well its been sitting there for a week. I just laughed at him and walked away. Some day I plan on having it restored, and I plan on keeping it. Sorry $400 might get you the wheels and tires.
I also had a scrap yard tell me they'd give me $150 for it, I said I'll sell you 2 wheels for that, but you aren't getting the vehicle. Turns out they had an 85 B2 as their parts runner truck and needed an engine, well not for $150 they aren't LOL.
Anyhow, many people just don't want to get rid of their old vehicles, but they won't let anyone else have them either. Used to be an old 1929 ford that sat along the highway guy refused to sell it, finally he died and the family sold the property, guess where that truck went. Right to the crusher.
