I found usa gears on rockauto that were specified as for the 8.8 31 spline, but everywhere else usa's aren't specified as for the 31 or 28 spline, so would I be right in assuming that rockauto is full of sh** and that the ones specified to work with the 31 would also work with the 28? I don't see how they could be different, but I am known to be wrong quite often...
Also, I swear that no one has heard of dana 35s, let alone d35 Reverse cut when it comes to gears.

8.8 gears are 8.8 gears it doesnt matter if its full width 31 spline or not. but there are standard cut and reverse cut for ifs 8.8.

kk thanks. Also, if I haven't had problems up until now, can I assume that I don't need to rebuild my rear end when I change gears?

are you changing gear ratio's? it is cheaper to get a 31 spline 8.8 with disc's from a junk yard than to rebuild.

Yeah I am frying my clutch. Mine isn't bad as it sits, but I heard someone say once that if you are changing gears you should rebuild at the same time, but I don't like that idea.

ya i would do a rebuild. its not hard and pretty cheap. but i would still upgrade to a 31 spline first.

merely for strength? Is it gonna matter that much? The only reason I hesitate is because my rear is already wider than my front, and an ex axle is even wider is it not? not that that I am super into aesthetics, but that kinda bothers me

it should be close to the same width. 35's on a 28 spline 8.8 its going to break. i broke 2 of them with 33's. you might as well have a 7.5. same axle shafts. want me to find you a 31 spline axle?

Argh. Im a sissy when it comes to throttle though. Yeah that might be a good idea. Roughly how much are they gonna be? its been a while since I was at a wrecking yard, last time I was at one ranger axles were $150.... I don't necessarily need disks either, I am a.o.k with drums
