Hey all!
I recently purchased a 1987 Ranger 4x4 STX. The guy I bought it from fixes Rangers for a living. He put in a Bronco II motor with only 47k on it so I'm hoping to run it for a while. The interior is in pretty good original shape. The dash is burned and cracked and the seatbelts need replacing. Other than that the interior is good. The exterior has a few dents and dings but no accidents (all original panels, doors, bumpers, etc.) but the paint is reallly rough.
I bought a 1986 Ranger 2x4 STX (manual) brand new in January of 1986 and was absolutely my baby. It's still in the family. I drove it for 2.5 years then t-boned an idiot that made an illegal left turn at an intersection. The insurance company wanted to total her but we convinced them to put the money into fixing her up. However, she wasn't quite the same after that so I sold it to my dad who drove it until 2003 when I got her back. During that time with my dad she had some work done (3 trannies, interior overhaul, new wheels, new chrome bumpers). The amazing thing about that truck is that she still has the original motor with over 300k on it and still runs strong!
