I know I've been here for a year, but I'm still a noob to Rangers. On the front of the engine, closest towards the grille, there is something that spins, then it stops spinning for a couple seconds, then starts again. WHAT IS IT?! I've wondered this since I got the truck I just never got around to asking. What is it and why does it have to be so annoying?

It's your A/C Compressor.

lol, no, not the Fan, I know what that is.

Thanks for the info adsm.

Turn the A/C off and see if whatever you are looking at stops. if so, it's the compressor as adsm08 stated.

Yeah, snoops test will confirm my guess, but I honestly can't think of anything else besides the fan that would fit the description, and I just assumed that you were smart enough to figure out what the fan was.

Haha I in no way implied the OP was dumb. I'm AC less so I don't have a compressor on my truck, the fans the only thing that spins on my truck that I could think of

I don't have A/C either, but i deal with it enough.

I wish I didn't have A/C after listening to that sound all the time.

So just unplug the electrical connector on the compressor. It won't ever turn on again, unless you plug it back in.

your clutch is probably worn out. It gets louder as the A/C clutch wears.

ha i dont have ac either!!! cuz i dont have an ac compressor hahahahahhahahahahahahahahahhhahhahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and i bought it like that and its never geting a new one!!!!!!!!!!!!!hahahahha:icon_rofl: :icon_hornsup: :headbang: :thefinger:

idk if you've ever heard it, but it's loud, loud enough to hear outside (and inside obviously), while driving, or probably 30-50 feet away. Maybe the clutch as you say is worn. I'll try to check it out.

Well, my grandparents live in Harbor Creek, so maybe I'll come over and listen to it some day.

Alright. Hey since you live in PA, do you know anywhere around to go wheeling? not like huge mud pits but just a little offroad?
