Okay, i'm looking at this 1985 ranger, 2wd 4spd manual, I6. Any particular things i need to look out for? I'm considering buying it as a resto-mod. The drivers door and tailgate is rusted out, but no biggie since the local junkyard has a few 80's rangers. Also, the dude is asking 300$ + parts to get it running reliably (it runs now, but needs belts, fluids battery, that kind of stuff)
Any input appreciated
Thanks.

For $300 grab it and leave it as is. I wouldn't pay someone else to do routine maintenance like that. I have an 84 Bronco 2 with serious rust issues and I don't make enough money in a year to have it repaired so I'll be driving it until its not roadworthy anymore then I'll scrap it. if you got the money and ability to do the work yourself it would be well worth the money.

However I'm sure that is a 2.8L V6 engine not an I6 unless you mean its a 4 cylinder which would be an I4 LOL. Other than normal wear parts nothing in particular to really worry about I'd say watch for rust but its a bit late for that LOL.

Forgot to mention, the 2.8L v6 kind of has a temperamental carburetor on it, so you'll quickly have to learn about adjusting it. There are several mentions of this all over the TRS site to help you as well as the computer in these likes to give people troubles sometimes as well which leads to many doing the duraspark conversion.

Alright, also what kind of aftermarket for the 80's rangers? Mostly suspension and body/interior?
