New guy here. My name's Bobby. I'm 25. Live in San Diego. Work as an electronics technician. I have entirely too many expensive hobbies. My truck is now one of them.

I bought my first Ranger about a year ago. A 2002 XLT. I loved it. Thought about doing a 4x4 conversion, but it turned out to be too much of a headache. At that point, I found a 2006 FX4 on craigslist that I just couldn't pass up.

This was the 2002 XLT when I first picked it up:

Picked up a toolbox and mounted a CB antenna:

Auxiliary battery (optima yellow-top) and 10" sub:

CB mounted & installed outlets in the cab:
(I ended up ditching that radioshack POS radio for a Uniden 520XL, now I have a Cobra 75 WX ST to save some space)

Outlet installed in the bed:
(The 1000w inverter is under the driver's seat)

Gotta have switches:

The tires that came with the truck were on their last legs. Had to fill them up every day. Picked up some spankin' new BFG T/A KO's:

I had a little mishap with the pole you see in this picture. I had to replace my mirror, so I figured I would swap with the newer style mirrors:

Installed an explorer OHC:

OMG it works!

Also grabbed some lighted mirrors from an explorer:

Picked up a grille guard off craigslist. It turned out to be for an explorer. Ended up reselling it and buying a new one later on.

Mounted a jerry can in the bed:

The explorer 8.8 that I ended up reselling because I bought an FX4:

How it looked right before I picked up the FX4:

There were a few other things I did to the XLT. I put some spring spacers in the front, 2" blocks in the rear. Some other little things.

Now, here's the 2006 FX4 right before I picked it up:

I pretty much swapped all the mods I did to the XLT to the FX4, except for the explorer OHC, because I don't want to sell the truck with a big hole in the headliner. I already have another explorer OHC & auto dimming mirror ready to go in though. Already snagged a dome light out of a mustang and installed that. I hated not having map lights to turn on.

This time around I decided to put the auxiliary battery in the toolbox:

Added some bed lighting to the toolbox:

I tried to make my switches a little cleaner looking this time around. Didn't want to drill my pretty new interior. I'm currently looking for a company to make a laser cut panel and add labels.

Doing a little bit of electrical work. Wiring all the crap up:

I just got this little thing in the mail yesterday to mount my phone or GPS onto. Still waiting for the adapter so I can actually put something on it.

This is the truck as it sits today:

Next step is lifting it up (I have a thread in 4x4 suspensions) and putting some 33's on it. Already did a torsion crank, but I'm not satisfied.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Oh, very nice...you do good work with the electrical stuff...being a technician I guess you've got to be...

I like the inverter and aux battery setup...I was thinking of adding one to my truck some day but hasn't happened yet...

And I like the FX4...very clean looking truck...:icon_thumby:

that was a cool set up on your 02' i have a power inverter mounted on the bottom of my dash and a utility light in my tool box to,but that looks good
