I'm looking for some direction that i can go with my B23. Its only 2wd and i dont want to go all pre-runner. No offence to the people who are up for deseret racing and all that but here in WI, I dont have much opportunity for that. I'm looking for a more off road capible truck. I have 27" on now. and i dont want to stick the money into a lift kit. so im thinking a lincoln locker would be the next option. I'm on a strictly low budget.

well unfortunatly a low budget wont allow much and your truck wont be very offroad capable unless you lift and invest a little money, you have a 94 so it should be fairly inexpensive to lift your truck

Body lift just to give it a lil more ground clearance, $200 if u install your self *not hard*

A body lift won't give you more ground clearance. They call it a body lift for a reason....it lifts the body. The frame and everything else that will get caught and stuck will be at the same height. All you get with a body lift is a bigger stretch when getting into your cab.

*Note: If a body lift "lifts" the body, this allows you to run larger tires. That said, installing larger tire's will give you some, although not a lot, of lift. Suspension lifts are more practical, and body lifts are more for looks, but they do have SOME advantage
(BODY LIFT DOESNT=OFFROAD MACHINE)

I know that you can run bigger tires with the bl. Yeah they have their advantages. Im just saying they are more visual than functional. If someone gets a 3" bl and decides to run 31's, cuz they can, with the 2.3 they will have to regear like crazy which is as costly, with the prices of the body lift, as a suspension lift that will give you more ground clearance to begin with.

lol i didnt mean ground i ment wheel clearance :D

Aussie all the way, idk if this is your dd or not but rockin' a locker on a daily basis can get annoying and puts some strain on your components. depending on what your running and aussie and 8.8 can be between 300-500. Can always trim fenders too to get more rubber underneath.

I also wheel a 2wd pickup and have blast doing so. Seeing as how you have a TIB front suspension, you should be able to get a little lift out of your truck and turn it in to a very capable offroad machine for very little outlay. You could make some front coil spacers out of steel washers for next to nothing, buy 2" daystar spacers for a little over a bill or get leveling coils (skyjacker, rough country, superlift etc) for about $130 for the front. As for the rear, you could get some belltech 6400 or 6700 shackles or a small add-a-leaf for around $50. As for tires, if you're really on a budget I would recommend some treadwright retread MT's on 15" junkyard rims, or if you want to keep 14" rims you can get super swamper TSL's in 29x8.5r14. With all that, you could weld up the diff and be on your way for about $500 or so

i would suggest finding an 8.8 rear axle with a l/s, you could probably find one off a rolled ranger or if you kinda know what your doing, an explorer. those are stronger, and if you get 4.10 gears in it, your set for any tire up to like 33s. i would buy some steel from a scrap yard and fab up a bumper with a winch and/or tow points cuz theyll come really handy, and tires, i would suggest general grabber at2s. almost identical tread pattern as bfg all terrains, but a lot cheaper

if you don't want to lift it then just put your foot in it and have a blast! things get dented and bent, but good luck breaking one of these older trucks. :D

I agree, although I think the higher cost of the suspension lift makes the boy lift a more attractive option. Bl are for looks, but with a locker and 31's(which you could fit) the truck would perform exceptionally better.

You could level the front of the truck with steel washers and then hack about 3-4" off the fenders to fit bigger tires w/o needing a body lift. I imagine you could squeeze 30-31" tires on there with enough of the fender cut away. If you could find one to use, a plasma cutter would produce the best (cleanest) cuts.
