lived there 30 years, nope. and it’s only getting worse. cutoff for smog? was supposed to be 30 years old and keep going, last update to that was Arnold S. cause he got smog busted for his ‘76. so in other words nope . had to ditch my samurai because of it.Do they not have exceptions for older vehicles that weren't CA compliant?
it’s crazy you say that cause my 99 came without EGR , also my replacement engine didn’t. but the CA models do. But the exhaust has a plug in it, so CA will see that as modified. best of luck to you.If you have a vehicle that is EPA emissions compliant, then all EPA emissions components that were on the vehicle when new are required. If it shipped with EGR, then EGR is required to pass an emissions test. So, if it was removed you have to put it back on. Generally, the only differences between EPA and CARB on most vehicles for the last 30 years is the catalytic converter and ECM calibrations. So, my guess is you should head to the wrecking yard and get the components needed to get the EGR working.
