living in the south it gets hot and the ranger is a 2.0l so no ac my question is what are the cooling options. also on a 1978 chevy truck, im thinking swamp cooler like from the 40s, but how good do they work i found some for about $100-150. the heat index has been 105+ for 3 weeks so any help would be nice.

vent visors when the truck is sitting.
put a rear sliding window in. those are great.
leaving the windows all the way down when parked helps quite a bit. try to park in the shade if you can.
go to the junkyard and get all the components you need to add factory AC to the truck if you have the know how and tools.

I would avoid the swamp cooler. It may lower the temps by 10*F but will raise the humidity much more. Rear window, vent visors, tinted windows, and just parking in the shade will help a lot. And if still want to be cool, then an A/C retrofit maybe in the works.
