hi all, i took a 1999 3.0 4x4 motor and manual trans out and put in a 1998 3.0 4x4 ranger that was auto trans. i used the computor that came with the 1999 manual and the wiring harness from computor to motor. my problem is i got no voltage coming to the injectors.( tested with noid light) what should i be looking for next to correct the problem? THANKS the 1998 ranger that i put the stuff in has been sitting since 2018

The Noid light indicates no pulse at the injector. It could be no power... but it could be no switched ground from the computer to pulse the injector.

You either have a bad wire or blown fuse somewhere. The injectors should have 12volts all the time with key in run position. As Gump stated also could be the pcm isn't sending the ground to trigger the injectors. Have you used a multimeter to test and see if you have 12volts. If so the pats could be causing the pcm not to send a ground out.

im gonna try the pats and key out of the 1999, i read in a thread here that the three marry together so if i switched computor without them with it, it would not let voltage to injectors

Yup. They are a mated pair. The module reads the key and then sends the signal to the pcm with the stored matched signal. If the computer doesn't see the correct signal from the pats module it will not send signal ground to fire the injectors. The injectors have power all the time. They just need the ground from the pcm to fire. I am assuming this is what you mean by "my injectors have no power".

would anyone have a 1998 ranger 3.0 4x4 with manual trans. that would share the vin # so i can order a new ecm. or know the ecm part# i cant order one if i dont have a vin# or part#. my 1998 has a auto trans with it and i just swapped in a 5 speed manual trans. has anyone ever ordered a new ecm when they did this swap? YES i did a search and got every thing but that. 1999 has the PATS it doesnt work

Nothing shady about that...

what could one do with a vin # thats shady? when every vehicle in the united states has one an all you have to do is look thru windshield. if i could find a 1998 ranger 3.0 4x4 with manual i would get it off the truck

Contact a good remote tuner. They can delete pats and the auto transmission programming out of the pcm and ship it back to you. Should cost 100-150 bux. I'm not sure if he does remote pcm tuning by contact https://www.facebook.com/TuningbyJames/.

well went on cars.com and found a 1998 ranger for sell that had 3.0 motor, manual trans,4x4 got the viN number off the site and ordered a ecm from FLAGSHIPONE, INC it came in last week and i installed it in the ranger. it runs like it should with no lights on the dash. thanks all for your help (DIRTMAN) Resized_20210301_104841.jpeg
