Hey everyone, I have a 1990 ranger 2.9 Liter. I cracked the heads on it. Since I put the new heads on the truck will not start. I have good spark, fuel, compression, and injector pulse. Everything seems to be there to start, but no start. Crank but no start. Can please someone help

2 quick things- 1.Try squirting some starter fluid or gas into the intake throttle body. If it starts and runs on that until fluid or gas is used up, fuel pressure may be suspect. 2.You say you have spark, but is it possibly 1/2 cycle off? (Does the rotor point to #1 distributor tower when #1 is on compression TDC?)

Did you get it running/
Sorry bro I've been busy at work. No I have not started it, and yes I did try starter fluid in the throttle body, and yes at TDC it is on the number 1 mark on the distributor cap. This truck has been given me hell since I bought it. If you have any thoughts about this it would be greatly appreciated bro I've been racking my brain on this one.

I am having the exact same problem with mmy 1990 Ranger XLT. I have a buddy that knows his vehicles. And he is even stumped. We need some help quickly.

Welcome to TRS :)

You should start your own thread and add some more info

So you just changed your heads on a 2.9l engine and now it won't start?
Thats what this thread was about

Did you do the 50/50 test?
Spray gas or Starting Fluid(ether) into the intake
Then try to start engine

If it starts and then dies quickly, Spark system is OK, fuel system is the problem
If it doesn't start then Spark system is where you need to start looking for the problem.
50/50

1990 Ranger could have 2.3l, 2.9l, 4.0l engine
