Hello all, I have a 94 ranger with a 4.0 OHV. I had the heads off to renew that gaskets. I all went together great, fired right up runs smooth, but after it warms up it will not restart till it cools. never had this problem before taking it apart. I have done some TS and it looses fire when shut down. I just replace the crank trigger with and no change. Has anyone on here had a problem like this. I did replace the Injectors when I had it apart, but it is losing fire. Appreciate any clues. thanks

I would say try the ignition control module IDM, but it will be an expensive guess. Autozone wants $234 for one.

Haynes has little on fire system for no start hot, it is mostly fuel.... (#5)

yes,, it fires right up when cold and runs great. it will run all day, but after it warms up if you shut it off it will not restart. I have verified that it is losing fire. I replaced the crank trigger. I have another coil pack I'm going to try next along with the sketchy looking condenser on it.

coil was my next thought as well...

Are you sure that you aren’t having a fuel issue?

My 2000 4.0 was having a problem with hot starting when it was still a 4.0, and I chased my tail for awhile before I discovered that my fuel pump was stupid weak so the rail would vapor lock, since mine is a “returnless” system. Yours is a return system, so you may be able to cycle the key on and off a few times to push fresh fuel up to the rail when it’s hot before trying to start. I’d also check with a fuel pressure gauge if possible.
