No Start, No Fuel.

did the valve covers on my ranger a week ago and the truck ran fine. Haven't started it since then and went to start it today, no dice. I don't hear either of the two fuel pumps (dual tank ranger) priming, I hit the rest button on the inertia switch and still no dice, ideas?

Check the relay for power.

I've gotta get my test light back from my buddy, what if there's no power at the relay, where do I go from there? (btw adsm08, I drained the oil the other day and the Oil wasn't milky)

When you look at that schematic, NOTE that the EEC relay has to energize (from turning the key to Run) and its closed contacts route power to energize the fuel pump relay.

If the EEC relay is not working, you will not have spark (or fuel).
If the fuel pump relay is not working, you will not get fuel pressure but you will get spark when cranking.

Two of the (removed) fuel pump relay sockets will have 12v with the key in Run.

If you don't have two, either the FP fuse is blown or the EEC relay is not energizing (no spark either).

A really simple test is to see if the inertia switch has power on both wires.
If so, the FP relay and the inertia switch are both good.
No power at either wire means the FP relay isn't working.


Lastly, the fuel pump(s) ground is all the way up in the engine bay, on one of the inner fenders.
