No speaker outputs on Pioneer

I like the option of different harnesses because if you don't need the wires/connectors you can leave them out and have less clutter to try to manage in that small space they give you. I've run across times where stuffing wires behind the head unit made it difficult to flush mount the radio in the hole.
When I did it. I needed some wires in each plug. That's why I de-pinned and removed individual extra wires from the plugs. It reduced clutter and bulk behind the dash.

Jim,

It will be worth the additional expense to use the RCA outputs into an external amp and not use the built in amp at all. Depending on how many R/L channels you desire to hook up.

One of the more simple set ups is known as Mixed-Mono. It is comprised of 1 left ch, 1 right ch and a 3rd channel made from the these 2 to power the low frequency sounds (8" or larger driver, [subwoofer]).

Not all 2 ch amps can do it (be bridged) but it is a less expensive set up and still can perform very well.

The next and better route is to use 1 four ch amp or 2 two ch amps to accomplish the same set up. Either of these will result in even better, CLEANER sound but will cost a little more and require a little additional wire and space.

Y'all do realize that he's just trying to do a simple radio installation in his girlfriend's car. Right?

Eric,

I understand what you are suggesting, It's a personal thing, I can not use the amplifiers that are built into head units. So I attempted to offer a reason to spend, er/um/ah, $20- $50 more for, IMO, for a remarkably better sounding, noticably cleaner system.

If it's for "the girlfriend", I wouldn't think twice. Everytime she powers that system up and it sounds like Heaven in her auto, ole Jim will be on her mind in the most positive way!

Sincerely,

He's already got four days into it after not following the directions so we are off to a great start! :icon_twisted:

Don't you love it when a simple project becomes a 5 day ordeal? lol

I agree
But I think the problem is in our own misguided imagining of "simple"

And, of course, the male tendency to put the instructions in the garbage with the rest of the useless packaging :)
