Im installing a Pioneer DMH-1770NEX stereo in my girlfriends vehicle. The stereo comes with a harness with RCA outputs for:

Front out left
Front out right
Rear out left
Rear out right
Subwoofer out left
Subwoofer out right
Rear monitor out

There's no 'speaker' wires.

If this was a home stereo I'd assume those were speaker outputs, but I've never seen RCA speaker outputs on a car stereo, and the instructions aren't clear.

Can anyone shed any light on thus type of setup???

The RCAs area only used if you’re using external amps. There should be speaker wires on the same connector with the power input cable.

Pioneer uses:
L/F... white and white/black
R/F... grey and grey/black
L/R... green and green/black
R/R... purple and purple/black

You would think.

There are no speaker wires. Just a harness that plugs in with RCA outputs.

Here's what's in the box:

The harness in the top middle is power connections. There's no speaker connections on it. The cord to the left has the RCA outputs. No speaker outputs.

I need to look again. I think they're there. The directions lead me to believe it's a separate harness.

That’s strange. Pioneer usually uses its standard 16 pin connector for power in and speaker out.
How many wires are there on the power cable?

Well looking at the the provided picture and the wiring diagram your power connector has way more wires than just the Full time power, Switched power and Ground needed to provide power. The last pic provided shows the wiring for the speaker color codes. The power connector has your speaker wires, at least according to the pics and diagram provided.

If this connector is different than the pic provided can we get a pic of the connector and wires they provided you?

If you look at the speaker leads section you will see a group of wires coming off the connector with a squiggly line and dead ending, the same with power cord diagram. This is the separation of power and speaker wires on the same connector.

A little confusing I know but it is the same connector,

Looks similar to the Pioneer I put in my Fun50 a few years ago. Several connectors. I de-pinned and removed unused wires from the connectors to reduce the bulkiness behind the unit.

Pioneer has used the same connector for years. The even used that connector on the pre-amp only head units. (With no speaker wires installed.)
It is possible that they shipped a pre-amp only harness. It would have the same 16 pin connector, but it would have no speaker wires and 8 empty spots.
Post a pic of the power connector you got.

i think you can buy adapters to convert those rca to regular wires, too. and best buy sells a super tiny 400w amp that you could put them into and run the speaker wires out of the amp. that will be a heck of a surprise for the gf, ha ha ha

New morning and fresh eyes. I found all the connections on the harness. For some reasoni was looking g for a separate harness. This has multiple harnesses that have to be plugged in.

👆 What are we gonna do with this guy

I like the option of different harnesses because if you don't need the wires/connectors you can leave them out and have less clutter to try to manage in that small space they give you. I've run across times where stuffing wires behind the head unit made it difficult to flush mount the radio in the hole.
