no spark

Replaced it and it did it again a week later.

I agree with Big Jim that there's something else there other than the oil pump. If the oil pump is worn that much it would turn easier not harder and your oil pressure would be way low. I can't say it's not the oil pump but I'd first look at the dist. gear. If it's cut wrong it will wear very fast or if it's not getting oil it will run hot and wear very fast if made from nylon or some other non-metallic material.

so just to continue an old thread-

truck died on the way home from work at one in the morning. last time i had to replace the whole distributor. i was driving down the road, and about to shift from 3rd to 4th at about 4k rpms.

the engine tries to turn over, it tries to crank. nothing happens, so i roll to the side and call AAA.

while im waiting for a tow truck, i find a screw driver and a flash light. i pull a spark plug wire and stick the screw driver in it, and place it on my windshield wiper panel, i tried to crank, and see if there is spark arc'ing.. and nothing... no spark...

.. does it sound like my distributor went out again?

That's a bummer. Does the distributor rotor turn when you crank the engine over? If not, the gear probably stripped again.

im going to try to turn it tomorrow. i just moved and havent unpacked my tools :(
