No Spark

I have a 1994 Ranger, 2.3 ltr non calf. Engine turns over good. No spark.
It has problem has been only happening for the last month or so. Most of the time that is 99% it starts and runs great. If I let it sit for a couple of hours it will then go a head and start. Where do I start diagnosing at. Thank you for any help.

Welcome to TRS~!

1st thing to check would be timing belt...make sure when it is turning over that the cam and oil pump belts are moving...if not...belt is broken...if so...

How did you test the spark?

Yes, how did you check for spark? There won't be spark on the drivers side plugs during cranking no matter what you do...

I had a similar issue once, turned out to be the crank sensor, but they are spendy (I grabbed one from a junk yard, new is over $100), the other possibility is the ignition module which is also spendy, but if you can get it off and take it in to some auto parts stores they can check them (best to do when they are hot to simulate the issue)

Thanks for the info. Turned out to be turned out to be eci on the side of the manifold.

He means the dis module. I'm not sure but if I had to guess, I would say he meant electronic controlled ignition box.

Cool...trying to pull together as much EFI info as I can...when I switch over I want to know what to expect...
