no spark please help

[85 2.8]

i have a 85 ranger with 2.8 it ran great till i shut it off. i have changed the coil and the pick up coil and the tfi! still nothing. its getting power to the coil and was told u dont need the computer to run so that gets un hooked and re hooked with every test. dont know if this has anything to do with it but at the same time the driver side brake light/ runing light unit stoped working ps all fuses are good. any thoughts?

its true you dont need the computer to run i used to take them out and get rid of all of the smog junk when i had mine my oil pump locked up and broke the pin for the distributer pull the cap off and turn the motor over to see if the rotor turns if it does see if you got spark at the plugs. there's not much to go wrong with spark when me and my budy were running 2.8's are proablems were the pick up and the tfi we got sick of replacing the pick-up so we got a new disterbuter from autozone and never had a nother problem.but as for that computer if you dont need the smog stuff its just added weight.

Check that your wire from the dizzy to neg on the coil is good. with the key on and a spark plug in the coil wire to the dizzy set it on a ground run a jumper from the coil neg pin on the TFI connector to a good ground and just touch it quickly I believe it is the second from the bottom the plug should fire if not it is a wire /connector or the coil.
