so i swaped my ford ranger 1994 4.L automatic engine with an Aerostar engine, engine had 160k on it, before it was pulled out it ran fine. I did the swap, had to change the complete harness, and the intake manifold and the exhaust.

I got the engine in and everything is good , but the engine wont fire,

there is no spark , there is no fuel( fuel pump
is not turning on)

already checked : wiring, fuses , coil plug has power , firing order is good

the crank position sensor has no power when the engine is turning over

there seems to have been an alarm on the truck from before, i unplugged that black box for the alarm, but still no luck.

any suggestion guys ? do you think it could be the old alarm ?

Pretty sure I have a 93 schematic that should be close, if not identical.
Might help you figure out where power isn't, etc.

PM me your e-mail address.

hey thanks a lot for those diagrams but unfortunately i couldn't follow the wiring diagrams... i couldn't understand them . Anything you guys can think of off the top of your head that would cause this ?

thanks

guys i'm stuck here, i took the harness completely out and checked all the wires in it, they all tested good. There is nothing else that i can think of that would stop the truck from firing, i confirmed that the crank position sensor has no voltage at all.

you need to learn how to read a diagram dude
if the crank sensor is getting no power then start there, and figure out, with the electrical diagrams, where it gets power from

okay crank sensor gets power from ICM and i'm stuck there

Got a meter?
Check for 12v on the RED wire. (Look at page 23-1 in the "How to use.." file I sent you)
It goes to the MAF, WOT relay, FP relay, and TWICE to the PCM.

If that (any of them) RED wire has 12v with the key in RUN, check for 12v at the Inertia Switch, both wires (just stab thru the insulation). If good through there, you may have a bad fuel pump.

Report back what you find.

fuel pump is good because i got it to turn on i grounded a wire in the harness connector, the green with yellow wire that goes to the inertia switch has no power, when i give it 12 v the pump turns on

also all the sensors on the engine have power except for the crank position sensor which goes to the ICM ?

i just tested the harness going into the ICM............ coil a,b,c, to ICM all have power, also the ground in the ICM is good when i try to turn the engine over that ground gets grounded ( before it actually had power ) . But the crank position sensor doesn't get power at all, i know the ICM must give it power, so i'm thinking if the PCM is grounding the ICM , than the ICM is simply not doing its job by giving power to the Crank position sensor and getting a signal back. do you think this is my problem ? the icm ?

just checked pcm and the power ground isn't getting ground so i wired my own ,,, and guess what , the checkengine light came on and the fuel pump , also the iginition ground is not working so i'm going to wire that and see what happens

What that tells me is you are missing one ground (G101) which also attaches the Battery Negative terminal to the radiator core support. Should be a black wire with a white stripe there. It provides ground for the PCM relay, which in turn powers the FP relay and as you noticed, also grounds the PCM. Not sure what Ignition ground you are missing, but looking at page 21-4, I see G200, which is the furthest one aft on the DS fenderwell.

finnally

the truck is finally running , it was actually a ground under the fuse box , its a plug i removed the other end that plugs in accidentally thinking that it was for something else . I had to replace the power steering pump and alternator , but the engine is running perfect ( aside from the tranny fluid leaking everyware gota change those lines ) but the 4x4 doesn't seem to want to turn on , i'ma have to work on that later

and thanks a lot to everyone that helped really appreciate it
