so i just installed my dual antennas on my 87 broncoII everything is wired cb power on. anyways my issue is i cannot pick up anything. not even the weather band my old antenna would only pickup weather band since it was broken picture below. do i need to run a ground wire? since the lift gate is fiberglass

so i grounded it and still hear nothing not even the weather band. made shure i sanded the paint off where i was grounding. i have no idea what is wrong at this point
i also tried using another cb that i had laying around and it didnt pick anything up either.

i don't know where you grounded yours, but i used a 12ga wire all the way to the frame. and don't forget to have the radio re-tuned after your done. with new antennas, you always need to re-tune because they're all different.

Unfortunately grounding it with a length of wire doesn't work that well at radio frequencies, you really need to have the mounts attached directly to the metal body of the vehicle for your SWR to be decent.

However I will say you should still be able to receive SOMETHING... Are the insulating washers installed correctly on your mounts? (also, a single antenna works far better than duals. Duals were designed to be put on big rigs to transmit the signal around it's large box trailer Your BII isn't wide enough for them to work correctly).

i have seen rangers with duals before they work just fine. but regardless if signal working properly i am getting absolutely nothing.

They may "work just fine" but they interfere with each other when they're that close together... if somebody had duals on a ranger, and they only hooked one up, I bet their talk-able range would increase compared to running both antennas.
