No Ranger in the Ford Challenge.

I just noticed this a few min. ago. In the challenge ford has listed every vehicle they have out now (including the Escape Hybrid and Super Duty). However there's no Ranger listed on there. I think thats BS that the Ranger is not part of this. Yeah according to Ford it's a dud in sales, but it's still a damn good truck.

I don't think they mean it's a dud literally but Ford seems to be hinting that they don't sell the Ranger as much anymore.

Ford Missing The Boat?

I think FORD is missing the boat, everyone else has a crew cab compact. Ford builds one but wont release it here in N. America why? I have seen a few running around in South Texas. they are a nice looking truck. I think Ford is afraid that the Sport Track would suffer if we had a opption for what we want not what they want us to have.

They might be missing the boat, but I think the boat is getting smaller anyway. I don't see trucks smaller than a 1/2 ton nearly as often as I used to.

That's because they price them so damn high, it is just as wise to spend $500 more and get a fullsize!

I think ford needs to step up to the plate and boost the HP in the ranger 205 just is below what its competitors have. They need to bump it up to like 275 or hell even bring back the 302 in put it in they did it for they exploders.

They didn't bring the 302 back in the Explorer, they killed it in them. The newer (02+) V-8 Explorers have a 4.6 in them.

OK, people are going for fuel efficiency and smaller displacement these days...

The newer 4.6 are DOHC...higher revs and not as much lower pushrod torque.

I hope they don't do away with the ranger...

I think the 4.6 is still mainly SOHC and will tear a 4.0 apart with almost 300 lb ft of torque. If you are waiting for a pushrod engine don't hold your breath, the few that are still in production are on the way out.

i hope they don't do away with them either just need to boost the power i am on my 3rd ranger first one had 225,000 miles on original engine the hard line to the fuel pump rusted off and i did not have money to fix it so i sent it to the bone yard it was my first ranger i almost cried

The Ranger is becoming a dud in sales. You may see alot of rangers on the road, but how many of them are '07 or '08s???? Not many I bet! Ranger sales have been steadily falling every year for a while now.

Right, ford is really getting away from Pushrods, while Chevy and Chrysler are still making strides to keep them around.

Thats because ford typical stupidity is not offering a small truck with as much power. They literally seem to be trying to sabotage their sales.

I dont know, as far as power goes, i drove a 05 ranger that was a parts pickup. Had the 4 banger, and the thing booked. Would stomp a mud hole in my 85 2.8. I raced the guy in the other parts rig, and it was like the last year of the s-10, WHOOOPED it.
