My 95 Ranger is slowly losing power... every time i start up i have to revv up the engine and SLOWLY let out the clutch and it will barely go.

Also if i start up to fast the transmission feels like it twists i dont know if it is the trans but holding the stick it jerks then theres a slaming sound.

Next 4th and 5th gears are worthless 5th does nothing cant even keep speed on flat surfaces 4th cant go up hills but can speed up slowly on flat ground. I dont know if its a lack of power, clutch, trans or what please help.
Much appreciated

One way to tell if it is the clutch is while driving put in a higher gear like 3rd or 4th and try to accelerate. If the RPMs increase, but speed doesn't it's the clutch. It sounds to me like you have other problems though.

Sounds like more than 1 problem.

Power: Do a basic under the hood check. All fliuds ok?, No water in the oil or vice versa? All wiring in good shape? Tuned up recently or has it been awhile? Take it somewhere and have them check for trouble codes. That's a freebie at some parts stores. They sell alot of parts based on the scans they do for free. There's alot of possible causes for the lost power.

The slamming sound/Trans movement: I'd say that could be a motor mount or a transmission mount.

is the check engine light on??

start with the tune-up components, for sure. check it all...wires, plugs, fuel filter, oil..check for leaks on the intake or EVAP side of things...and check the timing maybe??

just some suggestions to throw around..wish ya luck!!

The truck has been routenly maintained. No check engine light is on. I have not checked all the wireing or the fuel filter ill look around there 1st thanks. If there is anything else i need to check please let me know.
Thanks

I changed the fuel filter today and its better but not quite there i know its a 4cyl but its still lacking. i have fuel injector cleaner in gonna dump in next fill up and if it helps then ill change out the injectors. But if there is anthing else send me a message thanks.

x's 2, sounds like a bad motor mount for one thing. you can raise the hood, set the prop, start the engine and slowly let the clutch out, watch the motor for excessive movement... try this in 1st gear as well as reverse. ive had 2 bad motor mounts before at the same time! it makes for some weird driving!
