no power to my power outlets.

OK, so I have been installing my CB, and I was going to hard wire my CB to the cig lighter below the center console. So I pull out the ash tray, and cut out the cig lighter. Then I notice my cell phone charger, which is in another of the power outlets (my truck has 3, lucky me!) has gone dark. it had one of those red lights on it to tell me it is working. So I start by verifying the cell phone charger works, plug it into the wifes car. Yup, it works. Then I check the fuse. The fuse is good. So I replace the fuse anyway, just in case. Nope, still have no power. I run a test light on the two wires I now have hanging, that I had cut. No power.

OK, I am at a loss. I am a student at a Diesel Tech school, but have not had electrical yet, so I am a tad in the dark. (bad pun). I am thinking that when I cut the wires, I may have shorted something out. Yea, I should have disconnected the battery when cutting, I figured that one out about half a second after I realized that there was no power.

So I was thinking I should remove the center console (which I do not know how to do), and look at the wiring. Other then that, I am at a loss.

Any advice would be appreciated!

When you checked for pwr in the cut wires did you do to ground ?
Check each wire by going directly to a good grounding point.
Maybe the cig/pwr outlets are wired in series !???????
Did you reconnect the wires and see if all was good again ?
Are all of the outlets on one fuse ?
Last thought, is there an interlock sw so when the ash try is removed the pwr is shut off ?
