No power to inertia switch

With the conditions you have described, The relay jumped, Power to the pump. Sometimes you can thump the bottom of the fuel tank, with a rubber hammer or the palm of your hand and the fuel pump will come on. This is not a fix but is a conformation you have definitely found your problem.

Well I think I figured out all of my problems. Now I just have to get my truck put back together and see if it runs. I went back and double checked all my power wires for 12v with my multimeter. They were all getting 12v like they should. I took both pumps off my '86 parts truck today in between the rain. I checked the in tank pump from my parts truck and it runs perfect(I bought the pump new 2 years ago and has been sitting since). The high speed fuel pump of my parts truck wasn't running when I tried jumping it. Turns out the ground wire that goes to the connector that is covered by a little rubber boot and plugs into the pump came loose. So I jumped it again after I found that out and it works. So tomorrow I'm going to get everything back together and it should start up.

-Original inertia switch was bad. Spliced in a newer red button switch.
-In tank fuel pump was bad(even though previous owner bought a new one)
-High pressure pump doesn't seem to work. It was kind of hard to jump to test it while it was on the frame. So I'm not 100% sure it is bad but I will find out when I take it off.

I was at the junkyard today so I got a late start figuring this out and didn't get the truck back together yet. I did grab some 60/40 seat tracks from a reg cab Ranger and Explorer bucket seats for my '90 2.3l Reg Cab. The bench seat is torn and getting worse. The seats are a little dirty and a couple of faded spots but no tears.(there are always seat covers) The seats were from a '94. What's funny is they are the same color as my faded interior and will match like they were originals:icon_thumby: I took the seat tracks from the Ranger and put them on the Explorer seats so I wouldn't get charged separate.
$22 For seats and seat tracks. I also got a '91 F150 inside door handle and battery tie down.

Have never done this myself but have seen people remove seat skins, soak/wash them in simple green and rinse/dry.

Air dry only. No hard core agitation just hand wash and soaking.

If faded they will still look faded but extremely clean.

Yeah that's a good idea. I might try that with my seats. The driver's seat I wanted to add a little foam to the driver's side edge so I need the cover off anyways. The foam there isn't as firm as it should be. People get out of Explorers they just turn and slide out on that edge. I'll make sure to make a post about how it turns out.

Well I got everything put back together. I still have the bed off. I had to switch my good fuel pump from my parts truck to the other truck's sending unit. I had to do that because the sending unit it was on is from a super cab. It kind of loud because it doesn't have a muffler. Still need to get some new gas and new fuel filter. It is a 2.9l and you can here a tapping sound. Not sure if that can be adjusted or not. It took a little while to get it started but I checked and I had pressure at the fuel rail and both pumps were working so I just kept trying and boom it fired up. It does have the A4LD and it is slipping. Not sure if tranny will work better after running a little while. I drive an '91 F150 that sat for a few years and that tranny was dry and didn't want to shift at first. It runs fine now and doesn't slip and I recently changed fluid and filter. I do have a new muffler from parts truck and I'm gonna see if I can splice it on. I'm gonna try some TransX and see if it helps. I need to fix a heater hose and put the fan shroud on. Someone cut the shroud off and left it. I'll keep messing with this truck a little but I'm not spending money on it. I got other projects that need starting/finishing.

Tonight I was just sitting around watching TV so I decided to go outside and start up my truck and see how it does after sitting. It started right up and ran a few seconds and died. Started it a couple of more times and it started idling. I didn't hear the engine tapping like I did when it first started running. It must of just needed the oil to circulate after sitting for so long. Transmission still isn't wanting to shift into drive or reverse unless it is revved up and or when rpm's are going back down it might engage. I was reading some posts and am wondering if it could be the vacuum modulator. Thinking about changing that and the filter and see if it helps. I wish this was a 5 speed.
