i recently just did a 4.0 swap on a 1990 b2, got all info from this site everything is done, only problem is there is no power from the ignition. brand new pos+neg battery cables, new battery, new starter, new starter solinoid, all grounds good.

did i miss, or overlook something in the wiring, i swapped everything, dash, headlight+engine harness, thought that the 4.0 harness had ignition intergraded on the engine harness, i dont want ask dumb questions but i checked everything twice ????????? now i just scratching my head looking stupid if anyone can help i would be extremly thankfull

look at your wiring schematics and see how the circut is supposed to run. also get the ignition switch (the one on the middle of the steering column) lowered to a point to test if it has 12v to send out. does your accesories work?

actually the headlights, taillights, and map lights work but no door chime and no click from ignition. probably goofed up somewhere in the wiring, all fuses are good inside, and in power distribution, will check the switch am i looking for 12v constant or just in acc/run?

pull your ign sw down from the steering column, check power going in, and power out in each position, it may just need an adjustment, or a sw...if not, check your underhood power distribution box and work from there

so i checked and this is what i have, power to everything under the hood, power distribution, coil EDIS mod, have spark, changed a few wires around and still nothing maybe a bad switch, and now dash lights stay on even when the key is out, found some evtm's waiting for them to get here thanks for all the input and anyone else have any suggestions, tips, tricks, all will be used, and tried:icon_thumby::icon_confused:

ok, so i figured out the ignition seems i just needed the trans harness from the donor, and the newer power distribution box:icon_cheers:, when you use the newer power distribution just cut the newer headlight harness off splice that to the original headlight harness right? atleast i think that will power everything

What was your donor vehicle??
SVT

the donor was a 94 explorer, at first i used the engine and headlight harness but then realized the 94 had the electronic package and didnt want to spend more time converting the whole dash and interior so i found a 90 ranger with the 4.0 and took the headlight harness from that so now all my dash, and tailights work the way they did before the swap, took the advice from the tech page and bought the manuals, made it real easy, just dont know about the power distribution

You having the GEN 2 B2, you should have been able to just take the engine harness and comp and plug it into your vehicle harness...

i realized that after spending a weekend of trail and error, but you live and you learn!! it's actually my first electrical swap, still catching up with the change, if only they could have kept everything the same just made it better( pre 1980) however i would like to use the 94 box if possible, i think what confused me the most was the two peace design of the earlier distribution box, and the all in one design of th 93 and up distribution box
