I have a 1990 2wd, i started my truck today after driving for a while and i had no oil pressure and some engine noisethat i could feel in the floor, not HORRIBLE noise, but i did notice it, the moter also stalled/ choked if i gave it too much gas, i could get some oil pressure by reving the motor, but as soon as the rpm drop so did oil pressure- down to nothing, not even a little , the needle almost bounces it bottoms out sofast, managed to limp it home, Motor didnt get hot, i dont have water in my oil , or oil in my water. i have a sinking feeling.... any one want to break the news to me,? i only pd 800 for the truck have had it for 18 months it has 350,000 km ( ilive in Canada) is it worth fixin ?? its a fun truck to drive........

First thought is the gauge has went away.. Believe me if you lost all oil pressure you would have heard lots of loud noises and you wouldn't have got far..
Try another oil pressure sender and see what happens.

I did hear noises, like i said , i can feel it in the floorboards.... And how could a defective oil pressure sending unit mess with the fue/air mix. Like i also stated , if i put my foot into it , it coughs or even dies, exhaust smells a little rich- maybe i have a dead cylinder????? Not sure how that could affect oil pressure, but then, im not a mechanic either.... When cold, pressure is there- but drops within about 2 minutes after idling. THANKS FOR TAKING A STAB AT IT ANYWAY, UR THE ONLY ONE WITH ANY ADVICE SO FAR......

Find a compression tester, check all 6 cylinders. Oil reads ok on the dip stick? I have blown up a motor once when the oil gauge was reading fine so don't really read much into the readings on the dash. get a new sending unit and see if that makes any difference. even go to a pick-apart car wreckers if you can. remember what you can stuff into your pockets is FREE.... heehee... you didnt read that from me thou. try a different unit see what happens.... when the motor is running in idle you hearing any deep grinding noises at all? and can you smell any burning from inside the engine compartment as in HOT?

yup oil reads fine on the dipstick, not too dirty. when at idle motor sounds ok, until u rev it, then i can hear and feel something is not right. popped hood , no burning smells or running hot. im not too concerend with the guage because i would never rely soley on guages anyway, I did drive it home in this condition (10 min drive) and it didnt even get hot. but i can hear and feel something not right, and i still have the issue of stalling (its a 4sp auto) and sputtering when u try to accelerate, and it ALL happened at the exact same time, wich makes me think everthing has to be somehow related.........maybe????

thanks for your input, much appreiciated. i will try another guage.
