Ive owned my 2001 For Ranger 4x4 with a 4.0 for about 9 months now. Truck has 150k on it runs pretty good overall. I’m on my third oil change and I’ve noticed that when I loosen my filter, it has like 2 drops of oil come out. Every oil change I’ve done in my life the filters always spew oil for a few seconds. The filter has oil in it, but does this seem normal for this truck?

Weird, i've never had an oil filter spew oil. My 92 only dripped slightly after removing the filter

Only 2 drops? Wish I had that "problem". On the 3.0l engines, the oil filter is on a sideways angle right above the starter motor. There is always a mess, no matter what you do with it.

Check your oil level before changing next time. The 4.0 should cover the filter when you take it off.
