No More High Stall C5

Or you could have a converter company build you a MII V8 converter with the V6 front like I did... and still have it stall too high for an economical daily driver...

If your running a V8 why would you have the converter built with the V6 front, or was it for something other than the rig in your signature? Also what did it cost you? RB

Swing and a miss...

The Mustang II with a 302 used a 10" converter in it's C4 trans. It stalls at a lower speed than the 2.8L converter for a C4/C5. If you want to have a lower stall for the V6 application (IE, putting one behind a 4.0) then you would want to have a lower stall built. The stock 2.8L converter stalls 1,000 rpm higher behind a 4.0.

What did it cost you and what kind of improvement over the stock 2.8 did it give you? Is it any better than the factory low stall found behind the mustangII 2.8L C4 combo? RB

Well, considering nobody can get a MII 2.8 Low stall converter...

It was about $220 to have it built, and it dropped the stall 1,000 RPM behind the 4.0.. so it was like driving a stock 2.8L high stall.. The tach sits at 2,000 in town, and 3,000 on the freeway. I swapped a 5 speed in.

That's strange as my local tranny shop told me they could get me one for around $130 a few months ago. I'll look into it again. RB

It's listed in the catalogs, but no one had a core to build one or was out of stock when i tired to get one last summer.
