I looked through the 2010 brochure and saw no listing for a longbed regular cab. I think the longbed Ranger is gone.

The long bed is now only available to fleets, not regular customers.

im thinking of getting a reg cab longbed and chopping.welding frames to create a supercab longbed. only "big" problem i forsee would be the rear driveshaft would need lengthend. at leat rear discs are here! wonder if they'll be a direct swap?

Nope, the flanges on the new 8.8 and 7.5's are different with the disc's now.

i ment swapping the whole rear axle out for a '10 with rear discs, i didnt figure the disc setup would bolt up to the older 8.8/7.5's

Old memory but I believe that in the mid 80's Ford did offer the long bed ext cab, didn't sell so was dropped.

I too have threatened to configure a ranger that very way the only problem i could forsee is putting in the 7.3 powerstroke to aaccomodate the duallie rear axle.

Nope, never was an option on the Ranger.

I can't say I have seen too many newer longbox Ranger's, so I can't say I can blame them for cutting the option.

still using the 7.5?:dunno:

I always thought that was more of a work-truck thing. Most people would prefer the interior cargo storage of the extended cab to the outboard cargo storage of the longbed.

Ford also dumped the FX4-level-II for this year. It makes me wonder if they're just chopping trims for the last year when they finally have cut it down to only the most basic model and then euthanize it forever.

i doubt it, but im not certian. the 8.8 is a far better setup, although ive done plenty with a 7.5 before and it held up.

Yeah, they still have the 7.5. But now that the 3.0 is gone they only come with four cylinder trucks, which only come in the 2wd flavor.
