My step-dads 2000ish explorer has no heat. The dealer quoted him 600 dollars to fix is their a cheap fix... they dont have the money, and its getting cold up here in MI well soon it will be.

you can pick up a heater/defroster the plugs into the cigerate lighter for around $15

yah but theres got to be a way to switch the system to heat the ac works fan blows, all that just you cant put it on heat it make a clickin noise and nothing happens i already tried to just put ac on hot but no go. i dont get it is it like a electric valve the prevents hot water from getting to the blower

what did the dealer say needed fixed? if it was the heater core then it was probably bypassed and then you would have no heat.

if it's not been bypassed feal the hose's under the hood that run to the heater core(after geting it to normal range) and feel and see if they are hot going in and coming out. if they are then it's in the switch's. the one on the dash or the one under the dash that change's the door from a.c to heat.

Check the thermostat. If it fails, it fails open and it will not warm the engine up; thus not letting the antifreeze going into the heater core to be hot.

thanks for the tips but i checked all that, its not the heater core its like the selector for heat/ac i will try to find out the exact name I live in northern MI and they live down state...

Did you check to make sure the heater hoses are free flowing? Did you check the thermostat?

Ya check the thermistat cuase on my 1993 explore the thurmustat was no good. When I put the new one in i finally got heat.
