No headlights

Hey I have a 1996 3.0 v6 ranger and the headlights just stopped coming on, I replaced the headlight relay and the multifunctional switch on the dash and the switch fixed the problem for about 3 turns of on and off and now it doesn't work again. Anyone know why?
