So I have a 2000 XLT. No gauge lights and no backlight for buttons. However indication lights all work except 4x4. (Turns, hi beam, brake all work). I'm guessing either headlight switch or maybe dimmer. I've checked fuses beside driver door. Everything looked good. I've rear other posts and some seem helpful but figured I'd ask anyhow. I'm new to rangers so please school me.

You can download your owners manual here: https://www.therangerstation.com/manuals/

Takes the guessing out of what fuses do what circuits

Yes, most likely the dimmer wheel, maybe the Main Light switch
While its a different circuit, does the wheel turn on the dome light when rotated all the way "up"?

There are 6 bulbs in the cluster, on 2 different circuits, 3 bulbs each, but they share the dimmer wheel as do other backlight bubs in the dash

And dimmer wheel is powered by main light switch when in Park or Headlight setting

It shares Parking light power which is fuse 11 in ENGINE BAY fuse box

I assume Parking lights work

Yes all parking lights and headlights work as intended. As does the dome light. Just no dimming and no lights on gauges, HVAC controls or switch backlight.

Should be a Brown wire on the dimming wheel, from main light switch, thats the 12v for the back lights, with main light switch on
the 0v-12v power goes out of dimmer to all the back lights on light blue/red stripe wire

There will also be a light green/orange stripe wire with 12v full time, that's for the dome light switch

Ok. I'll check this evening. I have access to another ranger. So might grab new switch and dimmer and see if that works.
