no fuel pressure

Hi all. I have no fuel pressure in my 88 ranger. I replaced both fuel pumps the relay,jumped the inertia switch and still got nothing.the pumps don't make any noise at all.I have no clue where to go next. Tomorrow i'm going 2 see if the wiring is bad down to the pumps.Can any one help me?

it sounds like bad wiring, or a break in the wires somewhere. thats gotta be it. the new relay clicks just before you try turning it over? maybe fuel pressure regular on the engine? but since you arent hearing the pumps i would suspect its the wiring

I do hear the relay click.I replaced the regular too.I'm really not much of a wiring guy so that stuff stumps me.

I would check for power at the inertia switch with a test light or a volt meter. If you have power there work down to the fuel pumps and check for power there. I would check the fusable link between the starter relay and the fuel pump relay. Use a meter to check it cus they can look fine and still be burned on the inside.
Also check the EEC (computer) relay for proper operation. If the EEC relay is bad the F/P's will not turn on. The EEC turns the pumps on by grounding the F/P relay so go to the EEC and remove the 60 pin plug and ground pin 22 on the plug side. If the pumps turn on you can rule out most of the wiring.

I would also check the wires going into the back of the relay. I have had them back out away from the relay so they won't make contact with the relay when pluged in.

I replaced eec relay when i did the fuel pump relay.I have power befor the inertia switch but not after.Iran a ground from the ground wire form the pump and that didn't help.

check the ground wire at the connector at the pumps for continuity to ground. I had that problem before

i have 11.5volts at all the connectors.Now my relays wont click.I notice the my check engine light wont come on with the key on the on.Could this be a bad ground.

There is a ground wire that can be pulled apart that comes up from the frame ground point. It should be between the battery and the air cleaner box. I think it is a 12 guage black wire with a pull apart connector. The engine will turn over but won't start if it is pulled apart.

I check that and it was nice and tight.I have no idea where to go from here.I got this truck for a good price and it ran.It would die on me and i'd wait 20min and it would start.Then one day it wouldn't.I had no fuel pressure.

maybe the fuel filter? yours should have an inline one. mine has a canister type and i just changed mine today and it fixed my low pressure problem. i also replaced the fuel pressure regulator that connects to the fuel rail but you said you already replaced that.

if you have a test light or multimeter handy, check the conectors inside the plug that plugs into the fuel pump relay. sometimes those conections inside break. im pretty sure this is still an electrical issue. try that and ill find some wiring diagrams

I did both of those things.I replaced the filter right after it got it 2 weeks ago.I tested every conection and be for and after the fusible links.I have 4 of them.I had power be for and after every thing.

in the second diagram theres a 20A Blue fuesable link from the battery to the fuel pump relay. could be a broken wire inside. those fuesable links look like they are ok but if they have bubbled there is a break inside.

maybe the relay is shot again. if you have your old one try putting that in. maybe when you checked wires it caused a short somewhere
