no fuel pressure

And to top that off it's going to get really cold here and i have to work on it out side.6 inches of lift and 35 wont fit in the garage.

alright. im stumped too. maybe those conections 22 and 94 on the ecu are bad (so bad computer all together?). im just guessing. hope someone else that knows this stuff chimes in.

how do i go about checking the 22pin and the 60 pin?I was confused on how to do the.

have you ever replaced the ignition on it before? i was thinking that maybe there are 2 separate problems. those ignitions modules call it quits early. sometimes they just dont start up again after the truck is hot until you let it set awhile

I change that to.that is what i thought the problem was at first then i ran a pressure check and had none.

I had a taurus sho that was giving me a lot of problems like what you say. I straight wired the pump and got 40lbs of pressure to the engine and it still wouldnt crank. I was about ready to shoot the damned thing when I got to looking and the one little power wire from the computer that hooks to the battery terminal was disconnected. I hooked it up and never had another problem.

If you can't hear the pump, start from the battery and move one connection at a time for power. You will only get power for the first few seconds when the key is turned, or when cranking. You can disconnect the starter solenoid so the engine won't crank but the pump will be energized.

Stop when you find the point where there is no longer power going to the pump, and go from there.

"I have power befor the inertia switch but not after." = bad inertia switch. Pull its connector off and put a paper clip between the two pins. If FP runs (key on), replace inertia switch.

i had the same prob, i dont know if i got lucky or if this fixed it. but i pulled the relay off for the pump in the tank and bridged the conection, i unpluged the fuel line from the engine and ran the fuel pump untill gas started coming out, it took about 5 min (i belive its the low pressure pump in the tank). after that i pluged it all back in and PRESTO. i think the high pressure pump needed primed, but like i said i could of just got lucky and it was somthing els.

good luck

Hi all. I have no fuel pressure in my 88 ranger. I replaced both fuel pumps the relay, jumped the inertia switch and still got nothing.the pumps don't make any noise at all.I have no clue where to go next. Tomorrow i'm going 2 see if the wiring is bad down to the pumps. Can any one help me?
:dunno:

Saturday is going to be a little warmer here a hole 22deg. So i'll go out and try some of these things.I'm going to check all my grounds to.

well i got my truck running today. It turns out that the new relay that i put in for the computer was bad.On a whim i put the old one i and it started right up.Now it runs fine.Drove it around town just in case it died and had no problems.Running like a champ. Thanks for all your guys for your help!

Why did you change relays to begin with?
