No fuel from tank

I have 1992 2.3 Anger Iam not getting fuel from the tank. took out pump checked it out. put battery to it pump runs great. put back in the tank no fuel from tank. ran hot wire to hot side of the pump here pump running no fuel getting to filter on rail drivers side. I got a another pump that goes on the rail drivers side hooked that up no fuel from the tank adn yes there is 5 gals of gas in tank. what's up I don't know but I don't want to start using 5lb sledge on it. please Help!!!!:

Question: When you had the pump out of the tank, did you put try placing the fuel pickup into some gas and see if it pumped while it was out of the tank?

The pump may run, but if it won't prime and pump fuel while outside of the tank then you may need to replace it...just check that the fuel pickup line is clear...it could have gunk or chunks lodged in the line...
