I was coming back from a lunch break at work when my 92 2.3 shut off. would not restart and after some research i noticed that when the crank turned the cam did not. nor the timing belt. I have since torn it down and found that the teeth on the belt had been shredded at the bottom of the crank pulley. I have replaced the belt, lined up the pulleys and no spark. I am intending on a turbo swap in the near future but i have to get to work until then. I dont know where the cam sensor is or if that is the problem and I have seen something at the harmonic balancer that would appear to be a crank sensor but the parts store says that it doesnt have one so, i desperately need to get the spark back in this relationship so i can make it to work monday please help asap. thanx:beer::bawling:

If your going to be putting a turbo on it use a t-bird engine or you will only be limited to 5psi or so of boost. Or just put forged pistons in it.

You have a crank sensor behind the harmonic balancer... Just had to replace mine. on the 95+ they are much cheaper/simpler... I believe the one on your truck is this...

BWD Crankshaft Position/Crank Angle Sensor
Part # Part No. CSS60P

Make sure all connections are tight etc...

You're getting absolutely no spark on any plugs?

are u sure you got all the pulleys in the right spot. the cam sensor is behind the aux sprocket in a dummy distributor. its kinda underneath the intake, yet behind the powersteering pump.

the crank sensor is the one you need to check it controls the spark to the computer.

i found a little peice of magnet on the harmonic balancer. is that part of the sensor or the balancer?

On the pullys there are diamonds and arrows, I believe, that the arrows go at 12:00 the diamonds line up with the diamonds on the back of the timing belt cover. Ask me how I know......

that more than likely is from the crank sensor. and is not supposed to be layin on the harmonic balancer. look closely at the crank sensor and you will probably find where that peice of magnet came from
