Ok so i recently did a swap from a A4DL to a (M-5 05D? out of 93 explorer sport) and i choped up the wiring harness to get my backup lights and clutch neutral to work. Though the clutch neutral switch still dont work, the only wires i have goin to the connector are the backup and neutral safety which i was told its the only 1s i need. Now the only problem i have after putting in a switch to start the truck without putting the clutch down is that i dont have cruise control. Im not sure if i need to change something with the cruise control or what. I changed the ECM out from the explorer into my ranger and not sure if the explorer had cruise. If anyones ran into this problem before and knows what the problem is id appreciate it. It worked before the swap so idk if i just didnt connect something, chopped a wire or if its something i need to change since i swapped to manual. Let me know please ASAP becuase i have to drive 3 hrs 2marrow morning and would like the cruise

At the point where the speedo cable enters the rear on the automatic transmission. That assembly is also for the pickup sensor for the cruise control. So if you hooked up just the speedo cable without the pickup also taken from the automatic theres nothing for the cruise control to work with.

I dropped out the automatic and swaped to manual. Ive got the spedo at the Transfer case, but thats the only spedo cable i was aware of. theres the connector there but im pretty sure that its connected right. i can check but maybe im mistaken on which cable your talking about. the only cables i was aware of on the A4DL was the Neutral Safety, backup, Shifter cable and linkage cable.

The speedo cable is also 1/2 of the cruise sensor. It has a disk shaped magnet on the end that goes into the transmission. But that assembly At the transmission that the cable slides into is the Other half of the cruise sensor. it senses the spinning magnet. it also has the speedo gear for the correct ratio for your differential on the inside of it.

My point being if the manual transmission doesn't have that part( which I have no idea if it does or not) and the auto did. then you need to swap them over.

You may want to swap it over anyways just to make sure you have the correct gear for the speedo.
