i have a 98 b4000 automatic 4x4. at first as i posted before, i thought it just wouldnt go past 3700 rpms, i would get there and the engine wouldnt accelerate like i hit a speed govenor, or a rev limiter. the rpms would just drop if i kept my foot in the gas but if i let go it would catch back up just not pass 3700 rpm. now it is MUCH worse. there is no consistency, almost like it has to do with how much gas i give it, like it wont let me go past 1/4 throttle. im struggling to get around town. there is no check engine light, and the engine runs just fine. im baffled and almost to the point of taking it to the mechanic. any help is much appreciated

Engine runs fine, sounds like a transmission issue.

Hey, my 99 b4000 had the same issue about a week ago, i was slowly losing power to the point it was hard to get around. My issue was my fuel pump was bad and it wasnt getting enough gas, not saying thats your issue but its worth a look!

im a little embarrased to say what the problem was, but i bought a cheap air intake kit off ebay a long time ago and it came with a cone filter that had some kind of plastic carbonfiber shroud on it, i changed my spark plugs and noticed dirt on them so i put a new cone filter on and it runs like a top again. the thing was so crappy it was letting dirt in the whole time. just beware what you buy just because its cheap

Well it could have been worse. As I was reading I thought you were going to say you installed the intake filter and forgot to remove the plastic wrap over it. Now that would be something I would do.

I once made a couple ham and cheese sandwiches using Kraft single slices and forgot to remove the plastic from the cheese slices.
