I converted a 2000 ranger 3.0L no AC motor over to a 4.0 with AC. Pulled complete system from 4.0, wiring harness, PCM, AC everything, got it all installed just fine. Took it to Ford today and had it reflashed, Engine runs good, 4x4 works, no check engine light, but AC clutch does not come on. First off I have not evacuated the system yet or charged it, but just thought i would flip the switch to hear the clutch come on. No clutch coming on, I suspect 2 things, one there was no fuse installed because the truck never came with AC (sorry haven't looked yet) or the system won't work because it has not been charged.

Ideas or thoughts?

The system has a pressure switch that will keep power from the compressor if it is not charged. It is a preventitive measure to keep you from burning up the compressor if it is out of refrigerant. Not saying that is your only problem but definately a problem that will keep it from working.

OK thanks, I checked and there is a fuse in place and a relay in place for the compressor clutch. Must be that there is no pressure present. Will have my nephew charge it in the next few days and report back.
