no 4 low

So im new here I've tried searching can't find the answer. My truck won't engage 4lo. When you start the truck only the 4wd light comes in for a second but not 4 lo I've have taking the motor out and had a buddy switch it and it moves back and forth from 2 wheel to 4 hi and that's it motor will not move into 4 lo position

Welcome to The Ranger Station!

I believe you need to have foot on the brake pedal (brake lights on), zero speed and gear selector in P or N (or clutch pedal depressed).
