NIU Shootings

I was on the DeKalb campus when it happened. I'm an ME major there. I was in the engineering building, which is far away from where the shootings took place, but it was still way too close to home. I guess at least 16 people wounded, some with head wounds. I'm pretty shaken up over this. What kind of bastard walks into a class room and opens fire on the innocent?

Yea im from that area, so far i havent heard of anyone i know directly being involved, i have one friend who was outside the building when it happened though. What angers me the most is that these bastards who shoot inocent people, comit suicide. Its like they have this idea of being so powerful and taking others lives that gives them a high, and then boom, they take their own lives. Those pussy's arent even man enough to face the world and take responsibility for the actions they took. They dont even point, they just shoot, and then when they have reached their high, they turn the damn guns on themselves.

Just once i would like one of them to fail at suicide, place them in a prison that is designed as it should be, so that they are forced to face the people they have hurt, beaten by the people they have hurt, and live until the day that no one shows up to torture them. And then take all the rope on texas and find a tall oak tree, round up all of them bad boys, and hang em high in the streets.

I agree with that and also add the fact that Parents just don't know how to be Parents. They're afraid to punish thier kid or send them to bed without dinner for fear of exactly what you said, the kids will threaten them. Doctors are quick to perscribe add and adhd medication too because they just see money.

Another thing, after Colimbine, I "became the target of investigation at school" along with a few other friends. We were all metal heads, wore Pantera, Marilyn Manson and Nine Inch Nails shirts. We were also the popular kids but we got targeted for some investigation. I guess it really wasn't an investigation as much as it was the principal seeing if we were bullied or made fun on. He saw it the way I did, you can only mess with someone so much before they go over the edge. That's what happened at Colimbine, now had thier parents paid more attention to the kids, it might not have happened, who knows.

Who knows what was going through this kids head when he open fired at the school in Illinois. I did hear that he was a former student of the school, who knows, it might have been revenge. Or, he might have just been messed up in the head to begin with and finally snaped. The sad part is that we really don't know. We can't learn from this.

The main point I'm getting at is that if people today would just stop messing with one another to the point where it can be harassment then these things might not happen as much. Everyone has a breaking point and it might take some people years and years to get to it. Some kid that I made fun of in elementry school might be sitting at home thinking of how to get me back, who knows. Incase anyone is wondering though, I'm not trying to make the gunman the victim. The people who got hurt and died are victims also the campus.

I only somewhat agree with this. I put more responsibility on the parents than the schools. If the child had been disciplined properly at home, school behaviour should fall into line (didn't work with me). I do completely agree with the medical standpoint (although I don't know about Ridelin being cocaine). Has anyone read the list of symptoms for ADD and the like. Most sound to me exactly like a healthy kid should be. They just need discipline. Tough love as some would call it. Parents just want to be their kids friend now when they pick them up from day care. Its much easier to let TV babysit them and the drugs make it easy to put them to bed. They buy easy parenting from the pharmycist at the cost (apparently) of out society.

Ok I understand someone gets bullied. the first thing they go for is a gun cause some kid called him a faggot.(example) Big deal. its not like you have to listen to these people for the rest of your life. you go to school do your work make some friends and ignore assholes.

i understand some bullying is extreme and needs to be looked at but not with killing people.

I think the biggest factor is lack of respect. i respect my parents cause im scared to piss them off and thats way it should be IMO.
