Turbos, IMO, are worthless.

Cubic Inches are the only way to go if you want actual power (torque) and not just big numbers from small displacement to impress your buddies. Yeah, a 4banmger turbo might be able to make 500hp, but its spinning 15,000RPM, by that time a 351 would be gone with a measely 250hp, but twice (or 3 times) the torque at 1/4 of the RPM.

how much research have you done on turbos? with proper tuning and managment you can out perform just about any v8 in the same budget. Now while there is no replacement for displacement a turbo does a damn good job. Just my rant. I am swapping a sr20det into a bmw. bunch of big engine guys there that wonder why also.

all aluminum 2.0 liter turbo charger 4 cylinder that you can make 300 hp by turning up the boost and using a better intercooler.

I say go for it! and if you need more torque get a stroker kit.

I saw somebody was doing a 2jz swap and it got me thinking - an SR20DET would probably be easier to make it fit, and they're so easy to find... and usually pretty cheap. Am I talking stupid or is this a half decent idea?

where are you located? i know a guy that can make all the mounts/piping you need and help with wiring if need be for a very reasonable price. I am having him make my mounts for my bmw swap. PM me if you would like some more info.
