I hope Will Wills sees this:-)

Will featured my truck in the May 2004 issue of the Ranger Station journal. I'm pleased to say that this truck is still on the road and working well. Winter starting issues were solved by abandoning the use of the recommended oil of the time and replacing it with synthetic 10W30. Its lower pour point solved winter morning cranking speed doldrums. The only serious problem I've ever had with the Nissan component is that I've replaced the transmission twice; they are reminders of the low quality of Japanese imports of the 70's and early eighties. Rear brakes and drums & disc pads and calipers about 5 years ago. Last year, I had to put new carrier bearings into the rear end. I also did a quickie body job on it in hopes of getting two more years out of the truck which would take me to retirement.

Now, more than ever, the fuel economy from this truck and engine combo saves me a pile of money.

I still have the engine and trans Remember they were only 60 hp at the flywheel so they got as good of milage as a 240 Mercedes but they only have 3 main bearings but run forever . Mine outlasted the truck , a 81 Datsun 720 5 speed

20-some years abo I had a Nissan 2wd extended cab pickup with the SD25 engine.

The SD25 had 5main bearings and what I loved about it was that as an
all cast Iron pushrod design it did not have a belt driven camshaft or injection pump.

My Toyota diesel had both.

the Nissan supposedly had 73Hp but it felt stronger than that.

The difficult part with the Toyota was getting the most out of it's rated 62hp, which was produced at much higher RPM than the Nissan engine...

Good fuel economy from the Toyota was between difficult and impossible. My average with it was 22-23mpg.

the best ever was 27mpg because it had ONLY 62hp you basically drove it floored 100% of the time.
