What do you think of the VR lenses? Alot of the folks I talk to swear by them but I have never had much of a need. Most of what I do is off the tripod anyhow but I am starting to go to trackdays and do some action shots that require the camera be moving due to the speed of the bikes in reference to the background.

VR is for hand-held, off tripod shots. Matter of fact, it is recommended that you shut VR off when you are on a tripod. VR has the ability to detect panning, so it works well for "action" shots. I think it works great, even on the 105mm "macro".
