Nice upgrade to my work shop

I think you're a great fella Ron... and you give a bunch to these forums.

I can guarantee though... I don't want to bang you.

Ah, and I shaved especially close this morning too

My homage to Patton a great movie

I got one of those boxes in blue awhile back before they really raised the price. It lives up at my mechanic buddies garage for now so I have a place for all my tools there. Love it and wish I would have gone with my first instinct and bought two. I have a red Craftsman 3 piece set at home and a red Craftsman 2 piece in my construction trailer project. Really need another box or three but don’t really have a place to put it at the moment. I invested in more Packout stuff back the end of last year and that’s clogging up the little space I had left. I haven’t filled those yet like I was supposed to… I did, however, turn one into a big junkyard/mobile tool set though. Still adjusting the configuration, but it’s starting to prove handy.

I'm sure you'll like the cart! I'm a fan of the US General stuff for the price. Years ago I got one of the 44"? length bottom boxes for the garage when they were on sale for like $355 (I think it's still series 2) back when they were still all red, then in I think late '20 they were having good sales so I got a new 56" box in blue with top bottom and two sides for under $1200 combined... every piece bought separate and at discount :) (20% off anything does a number...). Was at an auction and got a 4 drawer cart without the base for fairly cheap so I scrounged for some casters and angle iron in the garage and put something together... turns out it had two shot drawer slides but at a garage sale thing I managed to find some that were almost identical somehow? Anywho, here's some pics of what I have:

I have one of them too... was bought years ago. In my tiny one car garage I currently have... I'm in process of moving tools around to make it my go to box. Just loading it up with the most common tools you typically use on most jobs. The I can roll it out to the driveway.

I don’t have any pics handy, but I won a Snap on KRL722 about 10 years ago. I’ll dig up a Google image.

I was going to ask why Keystone light but after looking at that brand new shop and shinny ass floor probably all the pennies left!!!! :)

Came out of a service truck and had to find something for it for a pretty good deal. The top 2 full length drawers are amazing!

Used to have a roll cart very similar to the first post LOVED it for easy access.

I’ve got almost the same setup as that for my main box. Only difference is I have a regular top box, not a hutch.
I’m thinking about putting a hutch on the free KRL I showed in the post above. What do you keep in it?

Floor's not so shiny a year later... this summer I might empty it, clean and reseal, or just leave it be and be over it... yes the shop process has been a spendy one even doing most everything myself, farmed out concrete (I did the saw cuts and put the last coat of sealer on though) and I'm kinda over it so having an electrician do some stuff (I dug the trench from the power pole to shop and shop to house) to get it past inspection...

As for the keystone, you can drink it all day and still be able to work on stuff, plus that older sign is just cool, it's wired to the light switch :). I don't drink too much beers, I have some that are close to date right now so I gotta get to that before they go skunky...

You spelled Ford wrong on that last one.

Yeah, the Jeep emblem was there when I got it, once I go through my stuff I'll probably throw some others on there for good measure... I have some 5.0, at least one SVO, some Ranger, some V6 and who knows what else :)

I would love to have a nice double baybox with a hood. I would keep a laptop... tunes... battery charging station and just walk up desk space.

When I bought my MAC boxes in the early 80's... they were the newest on the scene. What I paid for the lower chests, middle, side and top boxes... I could buy a whole bunch of Harbor Freight boxes.and still be money ahead. I understand the quality isn't the same but it's been awhile since I've been on a tool truck. What does a new Snap On box like that cost now days?

Good question... I bought mine about 15+ years ago. I paid about $13K for the top, bottom, and side locker. That includes the cover, stainless steel add-ons, and some other stuff. It’s not cheap, but it was a good deal at the time.

It looks like the whole set up lists for a touch over $20k now.

Yeah... I want to say I was like 7k.

I wouldn't spend 7k to refresh my boxes... but I might spend a grand to add a HF taco stand to what I have.
