Did I read the price correctly???? $81,000 is a bit much for a vehicle that has to be restored...guess it would be ok if the end-product is worth ¼ million or so when it's complete...

It was a 326 special version, but not the Super Duty that was very rare...but 226Gs is a bit much...hope they restore it...what's left of it...

That's museum quality money. The bones of the car are good but a quarter mil is an awful lot of money for an unfinished incomplete car no matter how special it is.

I put about $5,000 into my Ranger over the last four years and it's in better shape...and I don't have to worry about the following: a) someone stealing it's ugly ass b) high insurance rates that will suck the last dollar out of my account when I need it most or C) having to worry about getting parts since there are many dead ones that I can get just about anything I need for it with a bit of patience...

My bud deals in old cars. He is partial to vettes, older chevies, but has had a few of other brands. He purchased a Pontiac Star Chief convertible with weeds growing in the back seat, couldn't open the trunk. It has a 3 speed on the column, six cylinder engine. Pure dog just to look at it. He gave $800 for it, and we told him he was nuts. He bought it to re-sell, not to restore. He put it on e-bay. It was bought by a Honda dealer in California for $5,500. He sent a truck to pick it up.

I worked with a guy who bought cars in Western Canada when he took vacations...he'd scout them a few weeks before, make an offer over the phone...then drive out with a trailer and haul them back...never restored one of them but he made a BFBOC doing just that...
Out west they don't use salt and they've got these gems just sitting in fields waiting for someone to haul them away...and they're usually worth $5,000 minimum to some collector...so it can be very lucrative...

I don't understand how the bids got so high for this particular car. Is this a typo-price error? I must be missing something. It just doesn't look like any thing special or out of the ordinary for the listed price..........$4000 sounds high to me.
