You guys with the f150's did have aluminum rims and they did have round holes in them. But they were not the same rims nicknamed "alcoas".

If you are thinking of the Outlaw II style rims with the ring of simulated rivets, yes, those did exist. But the Alcoas were also F-150 rims. Check it, 5 bolt Alcoas on my F-150. Wish I could find dually Alcoas for the F-350 dump, they make for a sexy truck.

The early light duty f250 also used a semi-float dana 60 and a Ford 8.8. Never have run across a 8 lug semi-float 8.8 but they are listed as existing.

I have NEVER seen an 8 lug 8.8. Ever.

Alcoa is the brand, they make most domestic aluminum wheels I believe... not sure if mine are alcoa on the F350 but if they are they're some mean aluminum, had the camper in the truck while towing and the lug nuts got loose and I lost a few studs on a back wheel and the lug holes got scratched up a little but is still fine...

Alcoa is the brand name for the rim, but they are all high polished rims with round holes. My 5 bolt ones look exactly like the 8 bolt Alcoas. Seen tri-axles and concrete mixers running Alcoa alloys and they look like a scaled up version. Never seen another style from Alcoa, just like they made one and only design, so the brand name got applied to all of their rims. Very similar to the old Outlaw II style rims that had a ring of simulated rivets, just minus the rivets and a higher polish.

The big truck rims usually have a little Alcoa badge on them on the outside which may be where the name came from to all similar rims

8 lug Semi-float 8.8...that's a new one on me.

I've had an 8 lug semi float Dana 60, so I know they exist. It went with 8 lug Dana 44 on front - solid axle. Donor truck would probably have been considered a High Boy.​

I've also seen full float 9.75 listed, but never seen that either (and I'm not talking about the current 3/4 float 9.75; personally, I think it would be 10.25/10.5, but it learned that unicorns are out there)

Dana 50s on regular cabs were part of what we knew as the snow plow prep package; even with lower GVWR, you got the heavier front axle.

The MiL's mid-90s F-150 has 5x5.5 15" Alcoas. If I remember correctly, they had mfg by Alcoa, either as sticker on inside or a casting mark. And yes, they look like smaller version of the 8 bolts on 1 tons and 10 bolts on the class 8 trucks.

I started at 1992 and worked my way down year by year. Looks like there was only a 8 lug 8.8 available for two years, 1985 and 1986. No wonder no one has seen one.

Check this clean, I believe, F250, long as an aircraft carrier. Dual tanks, 4x4, two-tone paint. If those are stock wheels someone might be able to tell the year.

Ahh yes, when trucks were built to do truck things with rather than soccer mom mall crawler family sedans.

Its an F250 by the looks of what I can make out of the emblem on the fender, and might say Power Stroke underneath. Definitely wouldn't mind something like that for the occasional towing duties. My uncle has my 88 F250 super cab 4x4 long bed with the 460 and C6 in it...still going with close to or over 700k on it by now....although it needs an overhaul the 460 last I drove it was getting tired. Should never have let my uncle have that truck he's done nothing but trash it. It'll pull anything, but it don't pass gas stations even with dual tanks you don't get far.

Even with dual tanks those things are small compared to current tanks, I can get maybe 17 gallons in the front and 14 in the rear tank if I go till it stumbles on either tank (with dual tanks, that's WAY safer ), even Dodges of that era had like 34 gallon tanks... I have changed the pickup screen things on both tanks so I think it's just how it is, the front should be 19ish gallon and the rear is about right... sounds silly when my '97 Ranger has a 21 gallon tank...

I thought they all had dual 19's?

My 97 holds 38 gallons total.

Yep 35 gal x 19 mpg = 665 mi. I rarely fill up at metered pumps, so I'm not entirely confident in that... and I have Dodge's incredibly common broke fuel gauge. I usually fill up at 400 mi.
