after reading through a couple of replies to a thread in the
'other engine conversions" forum i came across an interesting suggestion can you use the original headlight harness and splice those wires to a later model power distribution box it seems possible just have to note each wire individually where it goes and eliminate all the stuff that is not equipped on the earlier model right? just think it would be more convenient to have all the relays and fuses together instead of the fuse on top and relay on bottom method. just a thought

Can you explain what you are trying to do so I can understand it ?

What year are you starting with and what are you going to ?

Thanks

actually it's done and everything works, i used the original 90 ranger headlight harness and integrated it to a 94 explorer power distribution. it took me awhile but in the end it was the red/green wire from the pcm power diode to the battery and everything came on and the engine fired right up with no hesitation!!! just need to clean everything up and find a good wire to splice so the diode is not running consistant 12 volt probably try the ignition wire first

Sounds like you did a good upgrade. Can you post some pictures?

yes i just have to find my camera, will also post wire combos to :icon_thumby:

Good deal! There'll be others who will find it useful.

ok so still looking for my camera but here are my notes

90 ranger 1) ignition- fat yellow 94 explorer 1) ignition- fat yellow

90 2) elect shift- grey/white 94 2) elect shift- green/light green

90 3) alt- yellow/white 94 3) alt- yellow/white

90 4) fuse panel- yellow/light blue 94 4) fuse panel-yellow/light blue

90 5) head lamps-brown 94 5) head lamps- brown

my 90 ranger does not have power locks or windows so i did not note that if you need those wires i can get them, same for the rear defrost (obviously)! note i currently have the pcm power ( red/green) wire running straight to the positive side of the battery going to try some different wire so all the relays come on with the ignition like they are supposed to. Also there is a ton of wires that go to the four wheel abs system relays that i have yet to find use for, since this is my first time figuring out wiring i'm sure others that actually have more experience will have use for these and put in their suggestions but i hope this will help:icon_cheers:
